以前、インドのとある町を歩いていると

一匹のカエルが道脇にいるのを見つけた

その時期のインドは乾期にあたり

雨はおろか川の水も干上がるほど

町は熱風と車が巻き上げる砂埃にまみれ

体中に埃をかぶり水場を探しながら

そのカエルもやっとのこと生きていたはず

カエルと見つけたあとまた歩き出し

水場が見つかるようにと振り返って祈った瞬間

突然道に飛び出したカエルをリキシャが轢いていった

いつかは誰にでも訪れる死も

自由や健康、安らぎと平穏な暮らしの中では

それはずっと先のことのように思えてしまう

でも自分自身や身近な人の死を垣間みたり

インドのカエルと出会ったとき

オレ達が今を生きてるってことはある意味奇跡的で

一瞬先は本当に何が起こっても不思議じゃないってこと

生きるってことの本当の意味を

真剣に考えたりする

この詩「インドのカエル」は、初めてインドを旅したときに経験した出来事とその時に感じた思いを書いたものです。今日現在、再びインドを旅していることを知った友人から「あの詩をもう一度読みたい」という嬉しいリクエストをもらい、改めてこのブログでも掲載することにしました。

これは友人の書道家の作品。
この詩の中で語ってくれた内容は個人的に深い意味を持っていて、嬉しいことに名前の文字まで入れてくれている。ちなみにここで出しているのは練習用だが、本番の作品で彼女は見事に偉い賞を受賞している。そんな作品に少なからず関われたこと、これも最高の贈り物である。

去年のクリスマスプレゼントの中で最もうれしくて美味しかったもの
それは友人から贈られてきた手作りお菓子である
「旅するお菓子屋」である彼女。かっこいい女性である

Lucy + Jorge Ortaによる南極で行ったインスタレーション。余談ですが南極の冬は-80 °Cにもなるとか。-40 °Cでバナナで釘が打てるようになるとのことですが、-80 °Cの世界だったらいったいどんなすごい事ができるのでしょうか…
